Risk
& Responsibility is a monthly court-mandated class for youth and
young adults between the ages of 16 and 22 who've been arrested
for violations such as marijuana possession, underage drinking
or purchase of alcohol, speeding, and other violations
indicating a high level of risk taking with little regard for
the law.
Saratoga Springs City Court
Judge, Doug Mills, a prevention specialist, and others such as
police officers or young adults in recovery, provide an
interactive class experience that invites participants to
consider their current attitudes and behavior in light of their
goals for the future. Information on brain development,
long-term legal and employment ramifications, and addiction are
also presented.
Non-mandated youth can also
participate in the class on a space-available basis. The class
takes place on the third Thursday of every month except August
and December from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in The Prevention Council
conference room. The cost is $25, to be paid prior to or at the
time of the class.
Saratoga Springs City Court
registers its mandated offenders automatically. All others must
call the Prevention Council at 581-1230 to register.
