Wisely Teens
This three-session video or computer-based program is built
around the specific problems faced by families with teenagers.
Realistic family scenarios give parents the opportunity to
explore various ways of dealing with difficult behavior and
see how well each way is likely to work. At the same time,
parents learn strategies that will work for a variety of teen
problems.
Problems covered include:
Breaking
house rules
Chores – refusing or doing a bad job
Talking back
This program has received the highest effectiveness ratings
from the US Center for Substance Abuse Prevention and the US
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention.
Parenting Wisely Young Children
This three-session video or computer-based
program helps pre-school parents deal with specific behavior
problems in young children. Videos show the problems and
parents can choose a possible solution and see how well it
works.
Solutions are offered for:
- When children interrupt
conversations and phone calls
- Helping children get to
bed on time
- When children act up in
public
- Helping children with
schoolwork troubles
- Helping children solve
conflict with their friends
- Helping children get up
and ready to go in the morning
- How to control sibling
fighting
Parents also learn skills such as active listening, assertive
discipline, job compliance, setting consequences, redirecting
attention, managing sibling rivalry, single parent issues,
praising, time out, “I” statements, family meetings, and
problem solving steps.
